Dr. Eva Marcu Lonn is a Canadian cardiologist based in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Her main clinical areas of interest and expertise include cardiovascular prevention, heart failure and echocardiography.

Lonn speaks English, French, German, Hebrew and Romanian. She has led major international clinical trials and has served in leadership roles for the Canadian Cardiovascular Society and the American College of Cardiology.

On October 7, 2023, an armed conflict broke out between Israel and Palestinian militants led by Hamas from the Gaza Strip. On October 28, 2023, the New York Post shared on LinkedIn its article about the 7,000 pro-Palestinian protesters who shot down the Brooklyn Bridge in New York City, New York, United States that day.

“Deport them all to where they came from”, Lonn commented on the LinkedIn post. At the time, she was employed as the medical director of cardiac health and rehabilitation at McMaster University in Hamilton, a professor of medicine at the university’s medical school and a senior scientist at the university’s Population Health Research Institute (PHRI). 

Before Lonn deleted all of her social media accounts, she posted on Twitter a lengthy apology. She wrote in part, “The recent global events surrounding Israel and Palestine have been deeply personal for me given my Jewish heritage and my family ties to Israel.”

  1. In 1984, she earned her medical degree at the Hebrew University Hadassah Medical School in Jerusalem, Israel. She earned her master’s degree in Hamilton.
  2. On June 17, 1985, she obtained her postgraduate education certificate.

  4. On July 24, 1990, she obtained her independent practice certificate. On November 26, 1990, she became a cardiology specialist.

  6. She, Salim Yusuf, Prabhat Jha, Terrence J. Montague, Koon K. Teo, Claude R. Benedict and Bertram Pitt were the authors of “Emerging role of angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors in cardiac and vascular protection”, which was published on Circulation in October 1994.

  8. On February 14, 2019, the National Post shared an article about Ilhan Omar accusing Donald Trump of trafficking in hate his entire life. She shared the article on Twitter and wrote, “ISIS in the US congress supported by Dems leadership. Dad and dangerous.”
  9. On April 6, 2020, she commented on a Twitter post about the new coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. She wrote, “Sorry it is called Wuhan virus”.
  10. On May 23, 2021, she wrote on Twitter, “Maybe relocate the Palestinians to Jordan a land created in fact for them”.
  11. She was part of the Canadian Heart Function Alliance, which was launched on May 3, 2022.
  12. On July 23, 2023, a Twitter user wrote, “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.” She commented, “Hope Hamas comes to Germany with their violence and hate. By the way was your father in the SS? Just wondering”. On September 27, 2023, she joined Premier Clinical Trial Network‘s team of principal investigators.
  13. She was 63 years old when she told CBC Hamilton on November 7, 2023 that she deactivated her social media accounts because of the barrage of posts and emails after the apology she released on November 3, 2023.
