Melissa Marie Curtis, 31, of Upper Marlboro, Prince George’s County, Maryland, United States has been arrested. She is accused of sexually abusing a teenage boy multiple times.
From 2015 to 2017, Curtis was an employee of the Montgomery County Public Schools, which is based in Rockville, Montgomery County, Maryland. During this period, she was a teacher at Lakelands Park Middle School in Gaithersburg, Montgomery County and Montgomery Village Middle School in Montgomery Village, Montgomery County.
In January 2015, Curtis allegedly started sexually abusing a male Montgomery Village Middle School pupil, then 14, while she was employed in that school as a teacher. She allegedly had sex with him more than 20 times while he was in eighth grade.
According to the student, Curtis touched his penis while in a classroom and performed oral sex on him. She allegedly gave him alcohol and marijuana and encouraged him to perform oral sex on her.
The student claimed that Curtis had sex with him at his home in Montgomery County and twice at her mother’s home in Germantown, Montgomery County. He also accused her of kissing him in a car and touching his penis with her feet while they were watching a movie at a theatre in Montgomery County.
On October 5, 2023, the Special Victims Investigations Division of the Montgomery County Department of Police began its investigation into the allegations after the alleged victim contacted the department. On October 31, 2023, the department obtained a warrant for Curtis’s arrest.
On November 7, 2023, Curtis turned herself in to the department. She was charged with sex abuse of a minor and 14 counts of third-degree and fourth-degree sex offense and was ordered held in jail without bond.
On June 13, 2023, a female student at James Madison Middle School in Upper Marlboro told detectives that Jose Zuniga Orellana, 33, of Accokeek, Prince George’s County recently made inappropriate comments to her and requested inappropriate photographs of her. She did not comply with that request.
Orellana was employed as a James Madison Middle School teacher when he was arrested. He was charged with solicitation of a minor.
