James Lee, 68, of Torrance, California, United States, Han “Hana” Lee, 41, of Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA and Junmyung Lee, 30, of Dedham, Massachusetts are accused of collectively establishing the infrastructure for brothels in Massachusetts and in Virginia, USA. They allegedly operated multiple sophisticated high-end brothels in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in Watertown, Massachusetts, in Fairfax, Virginia and in Tysons, Virginia.
From at least July 2020, James, Hana and Junmyung allegedly operated the interstate prostitution network by renting high-end apartment complexes as brothel locations and exploiting women through sex trafficking. The monthly rent for the brothel locations, which they allegedly furnished and regularly maintained, were as high as $3,664.
Some of the alleged customers of the brothels are lawyers, elected officials, professors, doctors, military officers, scientists, accountants, high tech and pharmaceutical executives and government contractors with security clearances. They allegedly paid up $350 to $600 per hour for sexual encounters with women in the brothels who were predominantly Asian.
The U.S. government has seized the domains of two websites James, Hana and Junmyung allegedly used to advertise appointments with Asian women. To be eligible for appointment bookings, the customers were allegedly required to complete a form providing their full name, email address, phone number and employer or reference.
On November 8, 2023, James, Hana and Junmyung were arrested. They were each charged with conspiring to coerce and entice women to travel to engage in illegal sexual activity.
Hana and Junmyung, who are Koreans, appeared in federal court in Boston, Massachusetts where a judge ordered them to be detained. James is expected to appear in federal court in Boston soon.
