Actors Han Sang-jin (한상진), 45, and Lee Jang-woo (이장우), 37, singers Shin Yeon-suh (신연서), 30, and Choi Young-jae (최영재), 27, and Miss Universe Korea 2023 Kim Soyun (김소윤) went to the same university. They are alumni of Seokyeong University in Seoul, South Korea.
Kim studied acting and modeling at the university. While pursuing a career as a fashion model, she works for an information technology company.
Aside from modeling, Kim also enjoys horseback riding and eating simmered rice cake or tteokbokki (떡볶이). She shared, “I can’t live without tteokbokki.”
Tteokbokki was among the foods prepared by Korean restaurant owners in São Paulo, Brazil during the Korean Gastronomy Hansik Festival in the city. The festival ran from September 1, 2023 through October 6, 2023.
Hailing from Gyeongnam, South Korea, Kim wants to expand her beauty network globally by creating donation kits for single mothers and single-parent families around the world through K Cosmetics branding in her home country and creating a mobile beauty social networking service platform. She shared, “If I had to describe myself in one word, it would be youthful.”
On October 26, 2022, Kim represented Gyeongnam at Miss Korea 2022 and competed against 53 other candidates at Blue Square in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, South Korea. She finished in the Top 30.
On August 27, 2023, Kim competed against 35 other Miss Universe Korea 2023 candidates at Grand Walkerhill Seoul in Walkerhill-ro, Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, South Korea. She won the title.
On November 18, 2023, Kim will represent South Korea at Miss Universe 2023 at the José Adolfo Pineda Arena in San Salvador, El Salvador. She will compete against 84 other candidates including Maria Brechane, 19, of Brazil.
If Kim wins, she will be the first Miss Universe from South Korea. The last time the country placed in the international beauty pageant currently owned by JKN Global was in 2007 when Honey Lee was third runner-up.
