Guilene Gerome, 38, of Seekonk, Bristol County, Massachusetts, United States and her sister Franzceska Gerome, 44, are in jail. They are accused of negligence.

In 2019, Guilene gave birth to a daughter. On October 8, 2023, the daughter suffered second-degree and third-degree burns over large portions of her body due to an incident that occurred at their residence in Seekonk.

On October 9, 2023, Seekonk Police Department officers responded to Guilene’s residence in Seekonk for a report of her daughter with significant burns over large portions her body. By the time the girl arrived at Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Providence, Rhode Islands, USA, she was in critical condition.

While the girl has been stabilized, she remains hospitalized. Several agencies investigated how the girl sustained her life-threatening injuries.

Aside from interviewing Guilene and Franzceska, investigators also consulted the medical professionals who are treating the girl. On the evening of November 11, 2023, Guilene and Franzceska were arrested by Seekonk Police Department officers.

Guilene and Franzceska were each charged with reckless endangerment of a child and permitting substantial injury to a child. In addition, the latter was charged with assault and battery on a child with substantial injury.

The Seekonk Police Department has yet to release details on Guilene and Franzceska’s alleged crimes. The two women will be arraigned in Taunton District Court in Taunton, Massachusetts.
