Jacoby Johnson, 23, of Rayville, Richard Parish, Louisiana, United States is a senior student of Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Lincoln Parish, Louisiana. Shortly after 9:00 a.m. on November 13, 2023, he allegedly stabbed four women who were leaving the university’s Lambright Sports and Wellness Center.
One of the four victims is Dominique McCain, a graduate student at the university. Authorities have yet to release the names of the other three victims, who are not affiliated with the university.
One victim declined treatment. Two of the victims were transported to Northern Louisiana Medical Center in Ruston while Pafford Emergency Medical Services transported the remaining victim to Shreveport, Louisiana.
Two of the hospitalized victims are in serious but stable condition. The other one is being treated at Northern Louisiana Medical Center in critical condition.
Louisiana Tech University Police Department officers arrested Johnson without incident. The attack was random, according to the department’s chief Randal Hermes.
During the attack, Johnson sustained injuries. He was transferred to Northern Louisiana Medical Center where he received treatment.
Aside from assisting in scene control, Pafford EMS, the Ruston Police Department, the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Ruston Fire Department also helped give care, aid and transportation to the four women stabbed allegedly by Johnson. The suspect was booked into the Lincoln Parish Detention Center in Ruston and charged with four counts of attempted second-degree murder.
Louisiana Tech University is part of the University of Louisiana System. It was known as the Industrial Institute and College of Louisiana from 1894 to 1898, the Louisiana Industrial Institute from 1898 to 1921 and the Louisiana Polytechnic Institute from 1921 to 1970.
Born in Monroe, Ouachita Parish, Louisiana, Les Guice, 68, is the 14th and incumbent president of Louisiana Tech University. He assumed office on July 1, 2013.
Miss Louisiana 2006 Jamie Wilson, 40, graduated cum laude from Louisiana Tech University with a bachelor’s degree in political science. Actor Muse Watson, 75, and singers Bobby Lounge, 73, and Tracy Adkins, 61, also attended the university.
