Kelly Ann Schutte, 35, of Pennsburg, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, United States was recently arrested. She is a former employee of Pennridge South Middle School in Perkasie, Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
While employed as a guidance counselor at the school, Schutte allegedly started talking to a boy, then 14, attending the school in the fall of 2022 after they sat together on a school bus during a class trip. Since then, he allegedly got called to her office regularly throughout the rest of the school year and at times missed class.
According to the boy, he and Schutte repeatedly had sex in Montgomery County and Bucks County in June 2023 and July 2023. They communicated through the messaging app Canvas and the social media app Snapchat, he said.
On the evening of July 17, 2023, one of Schutte’s family members allegedly saw her and the boy were kissing inside her residence. The boy ran from the residence, hid behind a parked car on a nearby street, called his parents, waited for them to pick him up there and told his parents about his relationship with the guidance counsellor.
On July 18, 2023, the boy’s mother contacted the Upper Perk Police Department in Pennsburg to report the alleged relationship between her son and Schutte. The Pennridge School District was informed about the allegations and put her on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
On July 19, 2023, Upper Perk Police Department officers interviewed the boy. The officers found in his phone messages between him and Schutte and photos of them together at her residence in Pennsburg.
On November 9, 2023, Schutte was charged with corruption of minors, three counts of indecent assault of a person less than 16 years old and three counts of institutional sexual assault – intercourse/sexual contact with a student. On November 10, 2023, she was arraigned
Currently, Schutte is prohibited from entering Pennridge School District premises or having any contact with the school district’s students and staff. She has posted a $25,000 unsecured bail.
