On December 21, 1988, a girl was found dead by road workers at an illegal dumping site in Ware County, Georgia. Her body was concealed in a discarded wooden television cabinet and encased in concrete.

According to investigators, the girl died in October 1988. Although a cause of death could not be determined, a Georgia Bureau of Investigation medical examiner concluded that the manner of death was homicide.

In 2019, investigators started looking into deoxyribonucleic acid sequencing. They found that the girl had a family connection in Albany.

In December 2022, the GBI published a news release asking the public to submit tips about the girl. In January 2023, a woman contacted investigators and told them she knew of a mother whose child had gone missing.

The mother allegedly claimed that her child went to live with her father but the tipster was skeptical. Based on the tip, it was determined that the girl was KeKe.

On November 1, 2023, the GBI secured a grand jury indictment in Dougherty County. On November 9, 2023, Sanders was arrested.

Also on November 9, 2023, Evelyn was arrested in Cook County, Georgia. On November 14, 2023, she will appear in court.

Sanders and Evelyn were booked into the Dougherty County Jail in Albany. They were each charged with murder, cruelty to children in the first degree, aggravated battery-family violence, concealing the death of another person and conspiracy to conceal the death of another person.
