Kimberly Barnes, 29, is a seventh-grade science teacher at Grovetown Middle School in Grovetown, Columbia County, Georgia, United States. It is under the Columbia County School District.

Barnes is accused of being involved in a fraudulent activity in another state. She allegedly made purchases with a card she obtained from a teacher at Johnston-Edgefield-Trenton (JET) Middle School in Johnston, Edgefield County, South Carolina, USA.

Aside from that, no other details about Barnes’ alleged crime were released. When she joined Grovetown Middle School is still unclear.

In March 2022, a warrant for Barnes’ arrest was issued, according to the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office. On November 17, 2023, Barnes was arrested to be held for authorities in Edgefield County.

That day, Columbia County School District administrators were notified of the arrest. They have yet to confirm whether or not Barnes has been fired.

Charged with transaction card theft, the Grovetown Middle School science teacher has been released on bond. In her absence, the school provided a substitute teacher.

Currently, Columbia County School District’s human resources officials are investigating the allegation against Barnes. The Georgia Professional Standards Commission has been informed about her arrest.
