Dr. Connor Bowman is an American poison control specialist from Rochester, Olmsted County, Minnesota, United States. He was 2 years younger than his late wife Betty Jo Bowman, who was born in Wichita, Sedgwick County, Kansas, USA.

In 2017, Connor obtained his medical license in Kansas. In 2021, he obtained his medical license in Minnesota.

From August 2011 to May 2015, Connor attended The University of Kansas in Lawrence, Douglas County, Kansas where he earned his bachelor’s degree in pharmacy. From August 2013 to May 2017, he attended university where he earned his doctor of pharmacy degree and in June 2017, he joined the medical center of the university as a pharmacist.

From July 2017 to May 2021, Connor attended The University of Kansas where he earned his medical degree. In April 2021, he joined Mayo Clinic in Rochester as an internal medicine resident.

As a Mayo Clinic resident, Connor advised callers to a poison control center in Kansas. Betty was a Mayo Clinic pharmacist.

Betty and Connor were considered as polygamists. When he started developing an emotional connection with a new woman, he was confronted by Betty, who suggested that they begin divorce proceedings if he could not choose her over the new woman.

Due to debt, Betty and Connor had separate bank accounts. He had hidden debt from her, which she discovered from bills in the mail seen without his knowledge.

  2. On August 3, 2023, he bought an erectile dysfunction drug for $15.20 online using his Mayo Clinic email address.
  3. On August 5, 2023, he searched on Google the phrases “Internet browsing history: can it be used in court?”, “police track package delivery” and “delete Amazon history police”.
  4. On August 10, 2023, he searched on Google the phrase “food v. industrial grade sodium nitrate” and looked up a journal used by several medical professionals to search the lethality of substances. On the same day, Betty had a friend over their residence in Rochester and asked the friend to try a smoothie he had given her in a “Lilo & Stitch” cup. The friend tried the smoothie and noted it tasted very bad.
  5. On August 11, 2023, he bought the drug colchicine for $52.20 online using his Mayo Clinic email address. After the purchase, he allegedly contacted the drug wholesaler to ask they delete his account information because Betty had bought colchicine under his name fraudulently.
  6. On August 15, 2023, Betty felt sick after drinking with him.
  7. On August 16, 2023, she was admitted to Mayo Clinic’s St. Mary’s hospital in Rochester, Minnesota severe gastrointestinal distress and dehydration.
  8. On August 20, 2023, Betty died.
  9. He requested that Betty be cremated immediately and tried to persuade the Southeast Medical Examiner’s Office not to perform an autopsy but on August 21, 2023, based on the possible suspicious circumstances of her death, the medical examiner’s office halted a cremation order for her and contacted the Rochester Police Department. The medical examiner determined that she had died from toxic effects of colchicine and ruled her death a homicide.
  10. On August 23, 2023, he modified Betty’s health record and continued to track it until August 31, 2023.
  11. On October 20, 2023, he was arrested, booked into the Olmsted County Adult Detention Center in Rochester and charged with second-degree murder with intent but not premeditated. Investigators found a receipt for a bank deposit of $450,000 in his residence in Rochester.
  12. According to search warrants filed on November 3, 2023, he tried to poison Betty more than once.
  13. He will be 30 years old when he appears in court on January 16, 2024. He is being held on $2 million conditional bond.
