David Melendez, 18, has been arrested in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States for crimes he committed when he was a minor. He will be tried as an adult.
During a family function on August 7, 2021, an underage girl told her mother she had been inappropriately touched by Melendez. The girl also said she saw him perform sexual acts on a boy, then 1.
How Melendez and the alleged victims are related was not disclosed. When the girl was forensically interviewed, she remained consistent with her allegations.
On October 30, 2023, Miami-Dade Police Department officers arrived at Gate H4 of the United Airlines at Miami International Airport in Miami-Dade County. They arrested Melendez on an open warrant over the crimes he allegedly committed in 2021.
On November 22, 2023, Melendez attended a bond court hearing. The judge said he had a hold for immigration.
Melendez was charged with sexual battery on a minor by a minor and lewd or lascivious molestation on a child. There was no bond for the first charge but the bond for the second charge was set at $15,000.
