Fighting out of Montreal, Quebec, Canada, “The Canadian Ganster” Olivier Aubin-Mercier, 34, is currently in Washington, D.C., United States. He has just earned his 10th Professional Fighters League victory and is now $1 million richer.

Born in Montreal, Aubin-Mercier made his professional mixed martial arts debut on October 21, 2011 in Montreal. On June 10, 2021, he made his PFL debut.

On August 23, 2023, Aubin-Mercier fought “Robusto” Bruno Miranda, 33, of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in the semifinal round of the 2023 PFL Lightweight Tournament in New York City, New York, USA. The Canadian MMA fighter defeated his Brazilian opponent via technical knockout.

2023 PFL World Championship

The PFL held the world championship of its 2023 season at The Anthem in in Southwest Waterfront, Washington, D.C. on November 24, 2023. The event inaugurated the partnership between the league and DUDE Wipes, which will continue in 2024.

There were 11 matches on the card including six title bouts. The main card had seven bouts and the preliminary card had four bouts.

In the main event, Aubin-Mercier and “Cassius” Clay Collard, 30, of Price, Utah, USA fought for the 2023 PFL Lightweight Championship title. The American MMA fighter defeated “Hurricane” Shane Bugos, 32, of Woodbury, New York in the semifinal round on August 23, 2023.

Olivier Aubin-Mercier vs Clay Collard

Mario Yamasaki served as the referee of the title bout between Aubin-Mercier and Collard at the 2023 PFL World Championship. After five 5-minute rounds, the referee raised the hand of the Canadian MMA fighter, who was declared the winner via unanimous decision.

The loss downgraded Collard’s professional MMA record to 24 wins and 11 losses. He was a 2021 PFL Lightweight Championship semifinalist.

On the other hand, Aubin-Mercier now has 21 wins and 5 losses. He was also the 2022 PFL Lightweight Champion.

A total of six countries were represented at the 2023 PFL World Championship, namely Brazil, Canada, Peru, Russia, Sweden and the U.S. Aubin-Mercier solely represented Canada while Collard was one of the 13 fighters from the U.S.
