Danielle “Dani” Becker Friedland, 36, of Piedmont, Alameda County, California, United States is still missing. She is Jewish.

Friedland and her husband Jordan Friedland, 36, have two children together. The children were born in 2018 and in 2020.

Over the last few months, Dani had been experiencing a mental health crisis, according to her family. Diagnosed with anxiety, depression, mood disorder and psychosis, she spent seven weeks getting treatment at the Menninger Clinic, a psychiatric hospital in Houston, Texas, USA.

On November 22, 2023, Dani was discharged. In the morning, she was in touch with Jordan.

From the Menninger Clinic, Dani took an Uber to George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston and was supposed to return home to Piedmont for Thanksgiving Day. At around 11:00 p.m., she checked her bag but never boarded the plane bound for San Francisco International Airport in San Mateo County, California.

When Dani disappeared from the airport that day, she was wearing a navy Cotopaxi thin puffy jacket that has orange stripes horizontally across the chest and blue jogger pants and carrying a black Patagonia backpack. It is believed she left the airport in a taxi with only $160 and a debit card.

According to the Piedmont Police Department, Dani intentionally left her phone at the airport. She does not have family and friends in Texas.

Before moving to Piedmont, Dani and Jordan lived in San Francisco, California for four years. In May 2022, she told Suburban Jungle, “The schools in Piedmont are excellent and it’s a very family-friendly town.”

“The rec center has a ton of great programming for kids and adults throughout the year,” Dani continued. “(It has) crafts, Judo, music, knitting, dancing, soccer, robotics, summer camps, just about anything you or your kids might be interested in. We also love the proximity to Berkeley, Oakland, San Francisco and the outdoor recreation in spots like Tilden.”
