Bruno Luke Machiavelo, 29, of Darien, Fairfield County, Connecticut, United States was at Miami International Airport in Miami, Miami-Dade County, Florida, USA on the evening of November 27, 2023. He was on an American Airlines flight to LaGuardia Airport in East Elmhurst, Queens, New York City, New York.
Machiavelo told a female flight attendant he wanted his medication in his checked-in luggage because he has panic attacks. When she said she could not retrieve his medication, he allegedly told her he “took planes down with panic attacks in the past”.
A female American Airlines manager approached Machiavelo. He allegedly screamed, pushed her away from him, repeatedly punched her in her face and threw her to the floor.
The manager hit her head on the jet bridge, which caused permanent scarring to her face and head. She was transported to Jackson West Hospital in Doral, Miami-Dade County.
After running off the plane, Machiavelo allegedly pushed a female gate agent, causing her to fall to the floor and injure her hands. American Airlines employees flagged down officers, who then responded to the gate.
The officers saw Machiavelo on the floor screaming and kicking while several passengers were holding him down. After resisting the officers, the Darien resident was taken into custody and brought to a hospital.
After being cleared at the hospital, Machiavelo will be booked into jail. He will be charged with battery and several other charges.
