1. She was born in San Francisco, California, USA to John David Moxley and Dorthy Moxley. John was an accountant.

5. In early 1974, from Piedmont, she and her family moved to Belle Haven. She was friends with her fellow Belle Haven residents Sheila McGuire, Helen Adele Ix, Tori Holland and Richard “Dicky” Burns.
6. Among their neighbors in Belle Haven were Rushton Skakel and Anne Reynolds Skakel. She was friends with two of Rushton and Anne’s seven children namely Michael Skakel and Thomas “Tommy” Skakel. Rushton’s sister Ethel Skakel Kennedy married Robert Kennedy in 1950. Robert died on June 6, 1968. Anne died of cancer in 1973. Tommy was 2 years older than her and Michael.

8. In September 1975, she wrote in her diary, “Michael was so totally out of it that he was being a real ass—-. He kept telling me that I was leading Tom on … Michael jumps to conclusions. … I really have to stop going over there.” On September 12, 1975, she wrote in her diary about going for ice cream with Michael and Tommy saying, “(I) went driving in Tom’s car… I was practically sitting on Tom’s lap … He kept putting his hand on my knee.”
9. On October 4, 1975, she wrote in her diary, “I went to a party! … Tom S. was being an ass. At the dance he kept putting his arms around me… making moves.” She also wrote, “Dear diary – tonight was a Sacred Heart dance …When we walked in, some guy asked me to dance … some other guy asked me, it turned out to be a slow dance. It was Stairway to Heaven. At the fast part, he wouldn’t even let go. … I also danced with Dicky, Neil, & Peter Zamenski. A lot with Dicky.”
10. At around 9:00 p.m. on October 30, 1975, she left with two friends to participate in the so-called Mischief Night, in which neighborhood youths would ring bells and pull pranks. That night, she started flirting with Tommy, according to friends. At around 9:30 p.m., she was last seen falling together behind the fence with Michael near the pool in his family’s backyard. That was the last time she was seen alive.
11. On October 31, 1975, McGuire found her dead beneath a tree in her family’s backyard with her pants and underwear pulled down. Pieces of a broken six-iron Toney Penna golf club were found near her body. Police later found a matching golf club from the same set on the Skakel property. Anne owned the set, which had been passed down to her daughter Julie Skakel.
