Las Vegas, Nevada’s Miesha Tate submits Julia Avila via face crank at ‘UFC on ESPN 52’ in Austin, Texas

“Cupcake” Miesha Tate, 37, of Las Vegas, Nevada, United States was one of the winners at “UFC on ESPN 52”. It was her seventh Ultimate Fighting Championship victory.

Featuring 12 MMA matches, “UFC on ESPN 52” was held at Moody Center in Austin, Texas, USA on December 2, 2023. In the sixth bout, she fought “Raging Panda” Julia Avila, 35, of Bakersfield, California, USA in the women’s bantamweight division.

Jacob Montalvo served as the referee. He stopped the fight after 1 minute and 15 seconds in the third round when Tate submitted Avila via face crank.

Losing to Tate downgraded Avila’s professional MMA record to 9 wins and 2 losses. It was Avila’s fifth UFC bout.

On the other hand, Tate now has 19 wins and 9 losses. “UFC on ESPN 52” marked her 12th UFC fight.

Born in Tacoma, Washington, USA, Tate attended Franklin Pierce High School in Clover Creek, Washington. She wrestled on the boys’ team from her freshman year until graduation.

Tate was attending Central Washington University in Ellensburg, Washington when she was introduced to MMA. On November 24, 2007, she made her professional MMA debut.

On December 28, 2013, Tate made her UFC debut at “UFC 168” in Las Vegas where she was submitted by Ronda Rousey via armbar. The first six opponents Tate defeated in the promotion were Liz Carmouche, Rin Nakai, Sara McMann, Jessica Eye, Holly Holm and Marion Reneau.
