2022

  • In June 2022, while he was living on the second floor of the Oxford Place at Tampa Palms in Tampa, Umar and Samira, who was then pregnant, moved into the third floor of the condominium complex.
  • In August 2022, he sent a text message to Umar to ask how Samira their newborn daughter were doing then came to the couple’s door with gifts for their newly born daughter. Days later, he began sending angry texts to Umar, complaining that he was losing sleep over the sounds of footsteps, a vacuum running, a door closing, a dresser drawer opening and a toilet seat being moved. He later filed a complaint with their homeowner association, which encouraged him to be understanding that his neighbors had a very young child.

2023

  • On January 10, 2023, Biomaterials Science published “Development of lipidated polycarbonates with broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity”, which he co-authored with Ruixuan Gao, Menglin Xue, Ning Shen, Minghui Wang, Jingyao Zhang, Chuanhai Cao and Jianfeng Cai.
  • In March 2023, he called the police within 15 minutes of the arrival of Umar’s family members who were visiting at the Oxford Place at Tampa Palms. He complained about the noise of their luggage scraping across the floor. 
  • In May 2023, a chemical smell was noticed in their apartment in Tampa.
  • On June 27, 2023, he was caught on camera injecting at Umar’s family’s doorstep opioid painkillers methadone and hydrocodone mixed with a noxious element. At 9:30 p.m., he was arrested by Tampa Police Department officers and booked into the Hillsborough County Jail in Tampa.
  • On June 29, 2023, he was released on bond. Represented by Adam Leo Bantner, he pleaded not guilty to charges that included possession of a controlled substance, battery and aggravated stalking.
