12 men arrested in Lake County, Illinois by undercover detectives

One man from Wisconsin, United States and 11 men from Illinois, USA were arrested in Lake County, Illinois as a result of a recent human trafficking suppression operation. Conducted by the special investigations group (SIG) of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, the operation targeted customers of prostitutes.

The SIG is a task force funded by the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) program. Established in 1990, the program is run by the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP), which is based in Washington, D.C., USA.

The 12 arrestees, who allegedly offered money to undercover detectives for sexual acts, were booked into the Lake County Jail in Waukegan, Lake County. The suspects were each charged with solicitation of a sexual act.

On December 21, 2023, all of the 12 suspects will appear in court. Here are their names, ages and residences:

  6. Nicholas A. Huemann, 22, McHenry, McHenry County, Illinois
  7. Nicholas B. Steele, 44, Marengo, McHenry County, Illinois
  8. Ryan A. Juga, 42, Kenosha, Kenosha County, Wisconsin
  9. Steven D. Carr, 71, Lake Forest, Lake County, Illinois
  10. Theodore E. Pfaff, 39, Crystal Lake, McHenry County, Illinois
  11. Traian Big, 49, Chicago, Illinois
  12. Victor Andrala, 43, Park City, Lake County, Illinois

“It is a well-known fact that many are forced into this type of sex work through physical force, fraud and coercion,” Lake County sheriff John D. Idleburg stated. “Many of them are victims of human trafficking. There is no doubt that if we reduce the demand for this type of activity, we reduce the need for the supply, making positive strides toward reducing human trafficking.”

Born in Chicago, Idleburg was a teenager when he and his family moved to Zion, Lake County. On December 1, 2018, he was sworn into office as the Lake County sheriff.
