Miguel Lomeli, 32, of Homestead, Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States is accused of violating a woman, 32, while he was employed as a Miami-Dade Police Department officer. She is his former girlfriend.
On December 6, 2023, Lomeli and the woman had a verbal dispute at a Buffalo Wild Wings in Homestead. While dressed in his police uniform, he followed her in her residence in Homestead in his marked Miami-Dade Police Department vehicle.
At around 1:30 a.m., Lomeli confronted the woman outside her residence in Homestead. When the dispute escalated, he allegedly grabbed her by her hair and brought her inside the residence.
According to the woman, Lomeli tried to force her to perform a sex act on him then started to hit her head on the stair when she struggled. He allegedly handcuffed her before sexually assaulting her.
The woman said she shouted to her son, 12, to call 911. Lomeli then got dressed and left the residence.
At 10:20 p.m., Lomeli was arrested by his fellow Miami-Dade Police Department officers at the department’s headquarters in Doral, Miami-Dade County. He was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami, Miami-Dade County.
On September 27, 2012, Lomeli registered to vote in Miami Dade County. He is affiliated with the Florida Democratic Party.
The Miami-Dade Police Department has yet to confirm how long Lomeli had worked as an officer with department. The department’s special victims bureau is investigating his alleged crimes with the Florida State Attorney’s Office.
Lomeli is being held without bond. He is facing several charges including armed sexual battery, armed kidnapping and burglary with assault and/or battery while armed.
