Barstow, San Bernardino County, California, United States is home to Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow. The city is also home to Lexi Morgan Powell, 22.
On September 9, 1850, California was admitted as the 31st state to the U.S. Prior to European colonization, the state’s indigenous peoples constituted the highest Native American population density north of what is now Mexico.
Incorporated on September 30, 1947, Barstow was named for William Barstow Strong, the president of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway from 1881 to 1889. On August 3, 1914, he died in Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California at age 77.
Eighty-seven years after Strong’s death, Powell was born. Twenty-two years later, she is caught on camera saying she hates Mexicans.
On December 7, 2023, quality assurance engineer and certified scrum master Eva Ramirez, an American woman who speaks English and Spanish, took to Instagram to share an encounter she had with Powell at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, Orange County, California. The bilingual woman was there with her son who was celebrating his second birthday.
Powell and another woman allegedly screamed several racist remarks to Ramirez and her son for speaking Spanish in the restroom. Ramirez then used her cellphone to record the incident.
“I hate Mexicans!” Powell yelled at Ramirez. “It’s true! There it is.”
Ramirez tagged Danesh Noshirvan, 37, of Los Angeles in the Instagram video. The Iranian-American former comedian also known as That Danesh Guy immediately identified Powell as the woman in the video.
“A dark old soul wit a big heart in a cruel world”,” Powell wrote in her Instagram bio. She has deleted her account.
