Cameron Jason Rios, 25, of Summerfield, Marion County, Florida, United States is employed with the janitorial services department of the University of Florida in Gainesville, Alachua County, Florida. He was recently arrested.
Recently, the Internet Crimes Against Children Unit of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office led a four-day operation in cooperation with Homeland Security Investigations and the police department of Ocala, Marion County. As part of the operation, deputies went to several residences in Marion County that were identified by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children as having residents associated with child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
After interviewing the suspects, the deputies confiscated their electronic devices. A total of six men including Rios were arrested.
The deputies took receipt of a universal serial bus (USB) drive that contained the contents of Rios’s Dropbox account. They searched the account and found seven files of child sexual abuse material, along with hundreds of other files of adult pornography and computer-generated pornographic images.
Rios told the deputies he uses Dropbox, OneDrive and other cloud storage applications to view and download child pornography he receives via Kik, a freeware instant messaging mobile app. While e admitted to viewing and downloading child pornography and uploading those images to Dropbox, he denied ever masturbating to child pornography.
After posting a $37,000 bond, Rios released from the Marion County Jail in Ocala. He was charged with unlawful use of a two-way communication device and seven counts of possession of child pornography.
