Brian Dolan, 48, of Washington D.C., United States has been arrested. He is accused of communicating wit a child through Snapchat.
On December 4, 2023, the child’s parents contacted the police department of Fairfax County, Virginia, USA and reported that their child was communicating with a person, who sent multiple illicit photos, via Snapchat. Dolan was later identified as the person communicating with the child.
Doland allegedly tried to convince the child to meet him at a shopping center. Detectives immediately reviewed digital evidence.
The detectives were able to link digital footprints to Dolan. Through surveillance video, they confirmed the identity of the the Washington, D.C. resident.
On December 7, 2023, the Fairfax County Police Department coordinated with law enforcement partners and the police department of the Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority in Arlington County, Virginia. That day, Dolan was arrested without incident.
Dolan was booked into the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center in Fairfax, Virginia and charged with production of child pornography and three counts of solicitation of a minor. He is being held without bond.
Fairfax is around 2,600 miles away from Santa Monica, California, USA where Snapchat Inc. is based. The company developed Snapchat, an instant messaging app with pictures and messages usually only available for a short time before becoming inaccessible to their recipients.
