John Wayne Childers, 48, of Georgia, United States was recently in Hobe Sound, Martin County, Florida, USA. He was incarcerated from May 2004 to December 2006, from August 2007 to July 2009, from December 2012 to December 2018 and from June 2019 to February 2022.

During those periods, Childers was convicted in Jones County, Georgia of various crimes including burglary, simple battery, reckless battery, aggravated assault and driving under the influence. The convictions required him to serve at least 12 years.

While wanted out of Georgia for aggravated assault, violating probation, exploitation of an elder, possession of a controlled substance and possession of methamphetamine, Childers was in Hobe Sound on December 13, 2023. He drove a car with Texas, USA license plates.

That day, Childers was caught on the Ring camera of a residence in Hobe Sound taking photos of the residence’s window above the front doors, trying to peer inside and prowling the area. When Martin County Sheriff’s Office deputies confronted him, he told them he was homeless and was looking for a place to live.

A few streets over, the deputies found Childers’ car. He was arrested and charged with prowling.

The first time Childers was arrested was on October 13, 2003. He was accused of stabbing two men in Jones County.

On September 7, 2012, Childers was arrested for burglary and simple battery. On November 15, 2012, he pleaded guilty to the charges.

Childers was sentenced to nine years. On December 26, 2018, he was released from prison.

On March 13, 2019, Childers allegedly used a knife to cut his wife’s hand inside their residence in Gray, Jones County. He was arrested on March 14, 2019 and indicted on April 16, 2019.
