Kathryn Bernardo, 27, and Daniel Padilla, 28, were among the Filipino artists who were recognized at the eighth edition of the Asia Artist Awards. The others were Melai Cantiveros and the groups SB19, Ben&Ben and Hori7on.
Hosted by Kang Daniel, Jang Won-young and Sung Han-bin, the 2023 Asia Artist Awards was held at the Philippine Arena in Santa Maria, Bulacan, Philippines on December 14, 2023. It was the first time the country hosted the awards ceremony, which is considered the Oscars and the Grammys of Asia.
STAR NEWS, TONZ ENTERTAINMENT and PULP Live World organized the event. Lee Jun-ho, NewJeans, BSS, Stray Kids and Seventeen won the daesang (grand prize) awards.
Cantiveros won the Best Actor Award along with An Hyo-seop, Kim Se-jeong, Lee Dong-hwi and Lee Joon-hyuk. SB19 received the Best Artist Award and the Hot Trend Award.
Ben&Ben was one of the 10 Best Choice Award recipients in the music category. Hori7on was one of the two Focus Award recipients in the music category.
Prior to the awards show, all awardees graced the red carpet except Bernardo and Padilla. DEMI, Alex Bruce, Young Cocoa, KAIA, 4th Impact and Cantiveros’s “Ma’am Chief” co-stars also attended the event.
In the second part of the show, Bernardo and Padilla went to the stage together as the Fabulous Award recipients in the television category. In the music category, the winners were Lim Young-woong, NewJeans and Stray Kids.
Padilla gave his acceptance speech first before Bernardo. He left the stage alone and did not wait for her.
Collectively known as KathNiel, Bernardo and Padilla started a romantic relationship on May 25, 2012. They officially confirmed their breakup on November 30, 2023.
