Bernal and Alex Bernal started dating in 2017. They got married in 2020 and later that year, she gave birth to their first child, a son.

On December 14, 2023, officers with the police department of West Covina, Los Angeles County arrested Sherry. The department has released her booking photo.
Sherry was held at the West Covina Police Department. Her arrest was part of an investigation alongside the Department of Homeland Security.
Bail for Sherry was set at $180,000. She has been released on bond.
At 8:30 a.m. on December 18, 2023, Sherry will appear at Citrus Municipal Court in West Covina.
