In 2012, Joe and Rebecca started working together for the Quakertown Community School District in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. He worked in information technology while she worked in music education for high school students.

In 2018, Joe and Rebecca created Stately Computer LLC, which is based in Leesburg. The couple conducts 100% of its business through Facebook Marketplace to cut unnecessary business costs.

On November 2, 2023, Lake County Sheriff’s Office deputies questioned Joe at his residence in Leesburg. The deputies found in his laptop computer a video of himself sexually abusing a young boy while recording the crime.

In the video, Joe is heard saying he knows the boy did not enjoy the abuse. The abuser also says he “likes it more” when the victim “does not like it”.

Joe was arrested and booked into the Lake County Jail in Tavares, Lake County. Florida governor Ron DeSantis, 45, has expressed his support for the notice filed by the Fifth Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s Office, which intends to seek the death penalty.

Prosecutors gave four reasons why death penalty is warranted including Joe’s past capital felony conviction and the fact the crime was “especially heinous, atrocious and cruel” and committed “for pecuniary gain.” Representing him is Morris Dagoberto Carranza.
