Alexander Jeffrey Hill, 41, of Austin, Texas, United States was recently arrested at a school where he was assigned as a substitute teacher.
Based in Weslaco, Texas, Individuals Dedicated to Excellence and Achievement (IDEA) Public Schools is a not-for-profit charter school operator formed in June 2000. It gets its substitute teachers from Kokua Group, a charity event planning company based in Austin.
On November 1, 2023, Kokua Group assigned Hill to be a substitute teacher at a school at the IDEA Public Schools campus on Wilcab Road in Austin. He taught arts in the fourth-grade classroom.
A few hours into the school day, a Kokua Group representative informed the school that the Texas Department of Family Protective Services had flagged Hill for a prior incident at a different campus. The school was warned to get him off campus immediately.
Austin Police Department officers arrived at the campus and removed Hill from the classroom. He was arrested and charged with indecency with a child.
According to Hill, he stood behind the students to help them draw but he did not touch them in a sexual way. One of the students claimed that Hill whispered to the student’s ear that the student was “the best artist in the class”.
One student claimed that they were pushed against the wall by Hill with his groin. He is also accused of grabbing another student’s private parts.
The Austin Police Department has yet to release Hill’s mugshot.
