Melcolm Martin Lee, 24, of Austin, Travis County, Texas, United States is also known as Tanto. He is accused of murdering someone at an encampment in the West Bouldin Creek Greenbelt in Austin.
Lee allegedly buried the body at the encampment. On November 27, 2023, the homicide unit of the Austin Police Department received multiple tips about the crime.
On November 29, 2023, Austin Police Department officers searched the area with a K-9 cadaver dog search team. They found human skeletal remains, which were collected by by the Travis County medical examiner’s office with the help of the Texas State Anthropology Department for identification.
The medical examiner performed an autopsy, which revealed injuries consistent with homicide. The remains belonged to Jehu Patrick Flores, 30.
On December 12, 2023, the Austin Police Department asked the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force to help locate Lee. A warrant for first-degree murder was issued for him.
On December 20, 2023, members of the task force and the U.S. Marshals Service found Lee at Mable Davis District Park on Parker Lane in Austin. When they approached him, he tried to flee.
The officers pursued Lee and captured him. He was booked into the Travis County Jail in Austin.
Bond for Lee was set at $1 million. Whether or not he and Flores knew each other is still unknown.
