Gypsy Rose Pitre Blanchard Anderson, 32, was released from the Chillicothe Correctional Center in Chillicothe, Livingston County, Missouri, United States at 3:30 a.m. on December 28, 2023. She is the wife of Ryan Scott Anderson, a teacher from Lake Charles, Louisiana, USA.

Shortly after Gypsy was born in Golden Meadow, Louisiana, her parents Rod Blanchard and Clauddine “Dee Dee” Pitre Blanchard separated. Rod later married Kristy Blanchard.

Gypsy spent the first 24 years of her life being infantilized by Dee Dee, who suffered from factitious disorder imposed on another (FDIA) also known as Munchausen by proxy. Dee Dee convinced doctors that Gypsy had epilepsy, leukemia, muscular dystrophy and other severe illnesses so Gypsy had to undergo several invasive and painful procedures that she did not really need.

On October 9, 2012, Gypsy met Nicholas Godejohn of Big Bend, Waukesha County, Wisconsin, USA on the Christian dating site ChristianDatingForFree.com and they started a romantic relationship. On June 14, 2015, he fatally stabbed Dee Dee at Gypsy’s instructions.

On June 16, 2015, Gypsy and Godejohn were arrested. On July 5, 2016, she agreed to plead guilty to second-degree murder in exchange for a 10-year sentence at the Chillicothe Correctional Center.

On July 26, 2022, Gypsy and Ryan got married in Livingston County. On September 28, 2023, the Missouri Department of Corrections confirmed that she would be released from prison on December 28, 2023.

Before Gypsy’s release, she told TMZ she and Ryan have tickets for the Kansas City Chiefs game on December 31, 2023 and she wanted to see Taylor Swift there. On January 5, 2024, the docuseries “The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard” will premiere on Lifetime.
