Kimberlee Lynn Singler, 35, of Colorado Springs, El Paso County, Colorado, United States is the former wife of Kevin John Wentz, 37, of Greeley, Weld County, Colorado. In 2012, she gave birth to their first child, a daughter.
In 2014, Singler gave birth to Elianna “Ellie” Wentz. In 2016, Singler gave birth to Aden Wentz.
In September 2018, Singler and Kevin filed for divorce, which was approved in 2020. Initially, a judge in Larimer County, Colorado granted her full custody of their children and approved a custody plan for him to visit his children at specific dates and times.
Amid the divorce battle, Singler made allegations of both domestic violence and child abuse against Kevin. A court in Larimer County found the allegations unsubstantiated and deemed him not a threat to their children.
Singler also obtained a temporary protection order against Kevin in El Paso County, Colorado, accusing him of brandishing a knife at her. He denied the accusation and an appeal hearing was scheduled for January 24, 2024.
On November 17, 2023, Singler filed another emergency motion in Larimer County court in an attempt to restrict Kevin’s parenting time based on those same allegations. The court found there was no imminent threat, rescinded the order and ordered her to pay his legal bills and give him makeup time to cover what he had lost from the order.
However, Singler did not comply with the directives. On December 16, 2023, she was supposed to turn over her three children to Kevin in the Colorado Springs Department’s substation in Stetson Hills, Colorado Springs, which she failed to do.
On December 18, 2023, Kevin was granted an emergency motion for law enforcement assistance to enforce parenting time. A status conference was scheduled for December 20, 2023, ordering Singler to appear with their three children.
At around 12:30 a.m. on December 19, 2023, police received a report about a 911 call claiming a burglary at an apartment complex on Palomino Ranch Point in Colorado Springs. When police officers arrived, they found Ellie and Aden dead inside the apartment.
Lying next to Ellie and Aden were their eldest sibling and their mother, who were both injured. Emergency responders treated Singler and her first child at the scene then took them to the hospital for further treatment.
It turned out that the 911 call was fake. Singler allegedly injured her first child and killed Ellie and Aden.
On December 24, 2023, Singler disappeared. On December 26, 2023, a warrant was issued for her arrest on first-degree assault, two counts of attempted first-degree murder, three counts of child abuse and four counts of first-degree murder.
A court in Colorado set Singler’s bond at $10 million. The Federal Bureau of Investigation joined the hunt for the Colorado Springs woman.
On December 30, 2023, Singler was arrested in Kensington, London, England, United Kingdom without incident. She is expected to be extradited back to the U.S.
