Jacob Douglas Welbaum, 31, of Murfreesboro, Rutherford County, Tennessee, United States is a father of two. He is a firefighter in Nashville, Davidson County, Nashville.
Aside from Murfreesboro, Welbaum has lived in different parts of Tennessee including Antioch, Eustis, Nolensville and Smyrna. He previously lived in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, USA.
Welbaum joined the Murfreesboro Fire Department on Marc 7, 2016 and the Nashville Fire Department on October 2, 2017. On March 30, 2019, he got married.
At around 6:00 p.m. on December 18, 2023, Welbaum allegedly tried to fight a fire at a residence in Murfreesboro. The homeowners were not inside the residence at the time.
Rutherford County Fire and Rescue was working on the house fire and Welbaum was not part of the responding team. He allegedly unlawfully took protective gear and breathing equipment from a fire engine and entered the residence, ignoring orders not to.
Welbaum started shouting orders at firefighters until he was physically removed. He was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and five counts of reckless endangerment.
Bond for Welbaum was set at $10,500. He is still a Nashville Fire Department employee.
