The police department of Culver City, Los Angeles County, California, United States has arrested Marcos Maldonado, 35.
At around 2:00 a.m. on December 2, 2023, Maldonado allegedly entered a residence in Blair Hills, Culver City through a balcony and sexually assaulted a girl, 12, inside. After committing the crime, he allegedly lingered in the residence then left through the front door at around 7:00 a.m.
While Maldonado was allegedly inside the residence, the girl’s parents were asleep. She had to wait several hours until she felt safe enough to get help, according to her parents.
At around 7:46 a.m., Culver City Police Department officers arrived at the residence and immediately canvassed the surrounding area for witnesses and evidence. They recovered video evidence showing Maldonado leaving the area.
The officers conducted a search but was not able to locate Maldonado. They identified him through deoxyribonucleic acid evidence.
On January 4, 2024, Maldonado left a hotel in Los Angeles, Los Angeles County. While boarding a bus headed toward Bakersfield, Kern County, California, he was arrested by Culver City Police Department officers.
Bail for Maldonado was set at $1.25 million. He was charged with aggravated sexual assault.
