Brendon Scheid, 26, of Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana, United States has been arrested.
In 2014, Scheid allegedly started molesting a girl, then 7. They were living in the same residence at the time. The abuse continued for several months, according to her.
In January 2023, the girl shared details of the abuse with her school guidance counselor. In February 2023, the girl discussed the abuse when she was interviewed by officers from the police department of New Haven, Allen County.
The officers went to the residence where Maldonado allegedly abused the girl. One person there confirmed that Maldonado did live there from 2014 to 2015 and another person said Maldonado raped the girl during those years.
When the officers contacted Schied, he told them he wanted a lawyer to be present to discuss the allegations. He later talked to a female Department of Child Services agent about the allegations.
Maldonado told the agent that he had oral sex with the girl accusing him of molestation. The Fort Wayne man claimed it was consensual.
On January 5, 2024, Scheid was booked into the Allen County Jail in Fort Wayne. He was charged with three counts of child molesting.
