Hailey Nichelle Clifton-Carmack, 26, of Waynesville, Pulaski County, Missouri, United States worked as a math teacher at Laquey High School in Laquey, Pulaski County. The Laquey R-V School District hired her in 2022.
It was Clifton-Carmack’s first teaching job. She was accused of being too close with students and having sex with a male student, 16.
On December 8, 2023, the school district terminated Clifton-Carmack’s employment. On December 22, 2023, law enforcement officers received a portable document format file, which showed conversations between her and the student she allegedly was having sex with.
On December 23, 2023, the officers received an anonymous tip that Clifton-Carmack was going to Texas, USA after meeting with the student. The former Laquey High School math teacher and the student allegedly met at the residence of the latter.
On January 3, 2024, a witness told the officers that the student’s father was aware of the student’s relationship with Clifton-Carmack. When officers talked to the father, he admitted that she was at his residence before she went to Texas.
On January 4, 2024, a warrant was issued for Clifton-Carmack’s arrest. She was charged with sexual contact with a student, first-degree endangering the welfare of a child, second-degree statutory rape and fourth-degree child molestation.
On the same day, a warrant was also issued for the arrest of the alleged victim’s father, who was charged with first-degree child endangerment. His bond was set at $50,000.
On January 5, 2024, officers from the police department of Garden Ridge, Comal County, Texas arrested Clifton-Carmack without incident. She was booked into the Comal County Jail in New Braunfels, Comal County.
Bond for Clifton-Carmack was set at $250,000. She will be extradited back to Missouri.
Clifton-Carmack and Chance Nathan Carmack, 22, of Waynesville, Pulaski County have two daughters together. On August 3, 2023, the former couple filed divorce, which was finalized in September 2023.
