Kauli Vaast, 21, of Tahiti, French Polynesia, France has joined Dior. Based in Paris, France, the luxury fashion house designated the surfer as a new icon.

In 2023, Dior partnered with Vissla for a $3,300 wetsuit and created a $10,500 surfboard to accommodate. According to the fashion house, he embodies its audacity and excellence because he is driven by a desire to surpass himself.

Born in Vaira’o, Tahiti, Vaast grew up surfing Teahupo’o, Tahiti. He is the first male athlete recruited by Dior in the run-up to the 2024 Summer Olympics.

Since 2019, Vaast has been surfing professionally. He was the World Surf League (WSL) European Junior Champion in 2017, 2019 and 2020.

Representing France, Vaast won silver at the 2023 International Surfing Association (ISA) World Surfing Games, which was held across the La Bocana and El Sunzal waves at Surf City in El Salvador from May 30, 2023 to June 7, 2023. He is qualified to represent the European country in surfing at the 2024 Summer Olympics.

The surfing competition will be held in Teahupo’o from July 27, 2024 to August 5, 2024. Vaast will compete in men’s shortboard against 23 other surfers and 24 surfers will compete in the women’s shortboard.
