Hunter Biden, 53, of Wilmington, Delaware, United States appeared at a U.S. House of Representatives hearing on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., USA on January 10, 2023. During the meeting, Republican lawmakers were pushing for a vote to hold him in contempt of Congress for not testifying in their impeachment inquiry targeting his father Joe Biden, 81.
Hunter was accompanied by his lawyers Abbe Lowell and Kevin Morris. The 46th U.S. president’s son sat between the two lawyers in the audience.
However, Biden, Lowell and Morris did not stay long. The three men left as Marjorie Taylor Greene, 49, of Georgia, USA was set to speak before the vote on the resolution.
On September 14, Hunter was officially indicted in Delaware on three charges namely prohibited possession of a firearm and two counts of making false statements on a firearm application form. On October 3, 2023, he pleaded not guilty to the charges.
On December 7, 2023, Hunter was indicted on nine more charges. He is accused of engaging in a scheme to not pay at least $1.4 million in self-assessed federal taxes he owed for tax years 2016 through 2019.
On January 11, 2023, Hunter will appear in court in Los Angeles, California, USA to face criminal charges of failing to pay $1.4 million in taxes. He is expected to enter his initial pleading of not guilty.
