Ja’Vontae Jones, 22, of Mansfield, Richland County, Ohio, United States has been found. He is accused of killing Jonathan Ash and Nathan Carroll.

On June 8, 2023, Ash and Carroll were fatally shot in the 600 block of West 4th Street in Mansfield. They were both 18.

In December 2023, a warrant was issued for Jones’ arrest. He allegedly hid in Columbus, Ohio while he was wanted by the Mansfield Police Department for the murders of Ash and Carroll.

On the morning of January 10, 2024, members of the Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (SOFAST) of the U.S. Marshals Service located Jones at an apartment on Alumcrest Lane in Columbus. He was arrested and booked into the Franklin County Jail in Columbus.

Jones will be extradited back to Mansfield to face the charges against him. About his arrest, U.S. Marshal Michael Black said, “Our Columbus community is safer today knowing this violent fugitive is off the streets.”

“Fugitives will not find a place to hide in Southern Ohio,” Black continued. “They will be found, arrested and brought to justice for their crimes.”
