Willard “Will” Peterson, 20, of Evansville, Rock County, Wisconsin, United States is a sophomore student of the University of Evansville in Evansville, Vanderburgh County, Indiana, USA where he plays baseball. He graduated from Evansville High School in Evansville, Rock County.
Peterson is 6’2″ tall and he weighs around 225 pounds. He is Dan Peterson and Heather Sweet‘s son.
Aside from playing baseball, Will also enjoys fishing and golf. He wants to be a physical education teacher in the future.
On the evening of November 11, 2023, Will allegedly raped a woman who attended an off-campus party at a house utilized by the University of Evansville baseball team. He allegedly agreed to give her a ride home from the party then brought her instead to his dorm room at the university.
According to the woman, she was dizzy so she laid down on Peterson’s bed. He allegedly sexually assaulted her then the assault ended when her phone rang.
The woman claimed that she threw Peterson off of her, grabbed her phone and locked herself in a bathroom and called for help. She was sent to a hospital in Evansville, Vanderburgh County where she spoke to an Evansville Police Department officer.
On November 12, 2023, the department opened its investigation. On November 17, 2023, a detective met Peterson at the university along with the university’s director of public safety.
Peterson waived his Miranda rights and consented to an interview with the detective. During the interview, the baseball player changed his story about what he did on the evening of November 11, 2023 several times.
On January 9, 2024, Peterson was charged with sexual battery and two counts of rape. On the morning of January 10, 2024, he was arrested.
Bond for Peterson was set at $15,000. He was booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail in Evansville.
