Charles Kent Kubie, 59, of Georgetown, Williamson County, Texas, United States was at the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Austin, Travis County, Texas on January 9, 2024. After he made a terroristic threat at the airport, all passengers were required to get off of the plane and leave their belongings behind.

A Delta Airlines flight was delayed for more than eight hours. The original crew members hit their time limit for the day so the airline had to wait for a new crew to work the flight.

The flight attendant notified the captain. The latter called police.

At 5:29 p.m., Austin Police Department officers responded to the airport’s Gate 5 with an explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) and canine (K9) unit. They performed a sweep and did not find dangerous materials.

Kubie was arrested and booked into the Travis County Jail in Austin. He was charged with making a terroristic threat.
