Adam Michael Nettina, 34, of West Friendship, Howard County, Maryland, United States attended Catholic University in Washington, D.C., USA before earning his bachelor’s degree in history at Utah State University in Logan, Cache County, Utah, USA and his master’s degree in English from Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas, USA.

A female delegate of Virginia, USA advocated for prevention of abuse towards transgender children in an interview published on October 13, 2022. On October 15, 2022, the delegate received an email from Nettina.

“You are a terrorist,” Nettina wrote in part. “You deserve to be shot and hung in the streets. You want to come after people? Let’s go bitch.”

A male delegate of Maryland who took to social media to express his support for the transgender community received a Facebook message from Nettina on November 8, 2022. The West Friendship resident wrote in part, “Better watch out Baby killing terrorist. Enjoy hell You’re going sooner than you think.”

Nettina worked in a direct mail firm in Ashburn, Loudoun County, Virginia that serves conservative candidates. In February 2023, he left his position and moved to his parents’ residence in West Friendship.

On March 27, 2023, transgender man Audrey Elizabeth Hale, 28, fatally shot six people at The Covenant School in Green Hills, Nashville, Tennessee, USA. Two Metropolitan Nashville Police Department officers fatally shot Hale after the mass shooting.

On March 28, 2023, Nettina sent a voicemail to Human Rights Campaign, a Washington, D.C.-based group advocating for lesbian, gay, transgender, queer and intersex (LGBTQI) people received a voicemail from Nettina. He said in part, “We’ll cut your throats.”

“We’ll put a bullet in your head,” Nettina continued. “You’re going to kill us? We’re going to kill you ten times more in full.”

On August 30, 2023, Nettina appeared in a U.S. District Court in Baltimore, Maryland where he pleaded guilty to a federal crime for using a telephone to threaten the group. He admitted to leaving the threatening voicemail and to targeting his victims because of their gender, gender identity and sexual orientation.

On January 11, 2024, Nettina was sentenced to two years in prison along with three years of supervised release.
