Originally from Guam, Nathaniel Pineda, 35, worked as a teacher at Dream City Christian School in Glendale, Maricopa County, Arizona, United States. He is accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a girl, 15, while employed there.
Pineda was the world history teacher and volleyball coach of the girl, who is a Glendale resident. She saved his number on her phone under a female’s name.
The relationship between Pineda and the girl came into light when her parents confiscated her phone and found inappropriate messages between the two, which started in August 2023. The text messages showed Pineda asking the girl about sex and for sexual favors.
From September 2023 to October 2023, Pineda allegedly dated the girl. On January 4, 2024, a Glendale Police Department officer went to her residence after her parents reported that she was sexually assaulted.
Upon receiving information about the allegations, DCCS contacted law enforcement and removed Pineda from the school campus. Since then, the school has been fully cooperating with the Glendale Police Department.
On January 17, 2024, Pineda told the girl to delete their text messages and deny their relationship. He told her he would go back to Guam as soon as he could and he was afraid of being arrested.
On January 18, 2024, Pineda was arrested at the residence of his mother. He was booked into the Maricopa County Jail in Phoenix, Maricopa and was charged with luring a minor, four counts of sexual conduct with a minor and four counts of sexual abuse.
