George L. Mott III of Marlboro, Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States has died. He was 64.
Mott lived in the same house in Marlboro with Carl A. Richards, 38, Richards’ wife Amanda Richards and the couple’s two daughters. Mott was the live-in boyfriend of Carl’s mother.
After Carl’s mother died, he and his family moved in with Mott. Carl claimed that Mott had been stealing from him.
At around 12:45 a.m. on January 1, 2024, Carl attacked Mott inside their residence in Marlboro.
When emergency responders arrived, Mott had severe trauma to his head, face and neck. He was brought him to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Carl claimed that when he confronted Mott, the elderly man attacked him. Both Carl and Amanda were arrested.
While Carl was charged with first-degree aggravated manslaughter, Amanda was charged with obstruction of justice, They were booked into the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in Freehold.
On January 22, 2024, Amanda appeared before state Superior Court Judge Paul X. Escandon for a routine detention hearing to determine if she should stay in the Monmouth County Jail. She pleaded guilty to two counts of endangering the welfare of their young daughters who were also inside the house at the time.
