Distributed by Viacom18 Studios, “Fighter” hit theaters in India on January 25, 2024. In the cast are Hrithik Roshan, 50, Karan Singh Grover, 41, Akshay Oberoi, 39, and Deepika Padukone, 38.
Roshan, Grover, Oberoi and Padukone play squadron leaders in the action film. Their characters are named Shamsher “Patty” Pathania, Sartaj “Taj” Gill, Basheer “Bash” Khan and Minal “Minni” Rathore, respectively.
Ashutosh Rana and Geeta Agrawal play the parents of Padukone’s character while Talat Aziz plays the father of Roshan’s character and Sanjeeda Sheikh plays the wife of Grover’s character. Also in the lead cast is Anil Kapoor, 67, who plays the group captain named Rakesh Jai “Rocky” Singh.
Written by Ramon Chibb, “Fighter” is about top Indian Air Force aviators who come together to form Air Dragons in the face of imminent danger. Siddharth Anand directed the film, which features real-life Indian Air Force cadets.
Anand directed “Pathaan“, which was released on January 25, 2023. It starred Padukone opposite Shah Rukh Khan, John Abraham, Dimple Kapadia and Ashutosh Rana.
“Fighter” is the first film Roshan and Padukone co-starred in. It was filmed from November 14, 2022 to October 30, 2023.
For 12 days, Roshan had scenes inside the Sukhoi Su-30MKI, an air superiority fighter developed by Sukhoi and built under license by Hindustan Aeronautic Limited for the Indian Air Force. He and Kapoor had scenes shot in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.
Almost a month before the release of “Fighter”, Padukone joined Hyundai Motor India as a brand ambassador.
