Romeo Nance of Joliet, Illinois, United States died at the age of 23. He was the boyfriend of Kyleigh Cleveland-Singleton, 21, of Joliet. They have a son born in 2020.

On January 3, 2023, Nance allegedly tried to shoot a woman, then 36, multiple times so on January 26, 2023, he was arrested and charged with reckless discharge of a firearm, obstructing a peace officer, aggravated assault, aggravated discharge of a weapon and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. He was booked into the Will County Adult Detention Facility in Joliet.

Cleveland-Singleton came up with $10,000 of her own money to bail Nance out of out jail. On March 10, 2023, he posted $10,000 of a $100,000 bond and was released.

On the afternoon of January 22, 2024, Nance fatally shot his mother Tameka Nance, 47, his aunt Christine Esters, 38, his uncle William Esters II, 35, his siblings Joshua Nance, 31, and Alexandria Nance, 20, and his two sisters aged 16 and 14, according to the Joliet Police Department. In the evening, officers located Cleveland-Singleton and her son at a residence in Plainfield, Illinois.

Cleveland-Singleton voluntarily agreed to be transported to the Joliet Police Department where she allegedly made statements in order to prevent the apprehension of Romeo and obstructed the investigation.

Also that evening, U.S. Marshals found Romeo at a Chubby’s gas station in Natalia, Texas, USA. At 8:30 p.m., he fatally shot himself at the gas station using a handgun.

On January 24, 2024, Cleveland-Singleton was charged with obstructing justice. She was booked into the Will County Adult Detention Facility in Joliet. On January 25, 2024, she will attend an arraignment hearing.
