Who is Jalonni Blackshear?

  1. He previously lived in San Antonio, Texas, USA, in Easley, South Carolina, USA and in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, USA.
  2. He was 4 years older than his wife Raechyl Blackshear, who worked as a nurse.
  3. In 2008, Raechyl gave birth to their daughter Jayla Blackshear.
  4. In 2018, he started working at the Anchorage Correctional Complex as a correctional officer.
  5. On March 30, 2022, Jayla reported to police that she had been raped by him. Raechyl took Jayla to the hospital where forensic tests were conducted. 
  6. On April 4, 2022, he allegedly fatally shot Raechyl and Jayla inside their residence in Anchorage then reached out to a female friend in New York, USA and asked to stay with her.
  7. The Alaska state court issued a search warrant for a deoxyribonucleic acid sample from him, which was executed on April 5, 2022. On April 13, 2022, the DNA samples came back as a match for him.
  8. On April 6, 2022, he resigned from his job as an Anchorage Correctional Complex correctional officer. On April 15, 2022, Raechyl and Jayla were found fatally shot in their house in Anchorage.
  9. On April 19, 2022, he was observed outside of a home on Harold Street in Staten Island, New York City, New York wearing a gold chain necklace.
  10. On April 20, 2022, he was arrested in Staten Island by the U.S. Marshals Service. He was extradited and booked into the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility in Palmer, Alaska.
  11. On May 5, 2022, an grand jury in Anchorage indicted him on first-degree forgery, two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of first-degree sexual abuse of a minor, two counts of incest, two counts of tampering with physical evidence and four counts of second-degree murder. 
  12. On June 7, 2022, Superior Court Judge Kevin Saxby set his bail at $15 million.
  13. In January 2024, he turned 41.
