Alexander Nicholas “Nico” Fanjul Jr., 38, of Palm Beach, Palm Beach County, Florida, United States is the eldest son of Florida Crystals director and senior vice president Alexander Fanjul Sr., 74. Originally from Havana, Cuba, the latter and his brothers Alfonso “Alfy” Fanjul Jr., José “Pepe” Fanjul and Andres Fanjul own the vast sugar and real estate conglomerate Fanjul Corp.

Based in West Palm Beach, Palm Beach County, Florida Crystals is one of the largest producers of sugar in the southeast region of the U.S. Nico is not an employee of the company.

On the evening of January 29, 2024, Nico was arrested and booked into the Palm Beach County Jail in West Palm Beach. He was charged with domestic battery by strangulation, robbery, false imprisonment and cocaine possession.

Nico is accused of physically assaulting a woman during an altercation at his residence in Palm Beach. He denied the allegations.

The woman’s back, head, face, neck, hands and wrists were injured. Her name was not revealed.

According to the woman, she and Nico had known each other for several months. Before attacking her that evening, he allegedly became upset about being seated near a gay couple while having dinner at the Flagler Steakhouse in Palm Beach.

On January 30, 2024, Nico attended a hearing before Circuit Judge Donald Hafele. Later that day, Nico posted a $180,000 bond and was released.

Hafele ordered that Nico refrain from contacting the woman he allegedly assaulted. The Palm Beach man is also prohibited from using nonprescribed drugs and is required to surrender any firearms to the Palm Beach Police Department
