The suspected safe house in the Bronx is the apartment of Victor Parra, 30, who left Venezuela and entered the U.S. in 2023. He was identified as the ringleader of the criminal group.

In November 2023, Parra migrated to the U.S. from Venezuela. In the same month, his group started committing crimes in New York City.

Most of the victims were women walking alone on the sidewalk. The first incident took place in Manhattan, New York City.

Members of the group would ride up behind the victims, grab their phones or purses and make their getaway. The phones were taken to Parra’s apartment in the Bronx where someone hacked into the phones.

After accessing the victims’ financial and banking apps, the group would make fraudulent purchases not only in the U.S. but also in Central America then ship the phones to Colombia to be reprogrammed.

While in the U.S., Parra was arrested and charged with grand larceny. In December 2023, he was released after posting bail.

Parra and seven other members of his group are still at large. Here are six of the suspects:

  1. Anthony Ramos, 21, Manhattan
  2. Beike Jimenez, 21, Bronx
  3. Maria Manaura, 32, Manhattan
  4. Richard Saledo, 21, Bronx
  5. Samuel Castro, 27, Queens
  6. Yan Jimenez, 25, Manhattan
