Katherine Emel, 29, of Plymouth Meeting, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, United States has been arrested. She was the girlfriend of William Grover Carter of Norristown, Montgomery County.
Emel allegedly placed a global positioning system tracker in the trunk of her vehicle, which Carter drove on January 20, 2024. That day, she communicated several times with Daquan Allen, 29, of Norristown.
In the evening, Emel provided Allen the location of Carter. She allegedly told Allen that Carter recently won $3,000 gambling.
At around 7:49 p.m., Carter was walking along the block of West Wood Street in Norristown when he was assaulted allegedly by Allen, Damon Brantley Jr., 18, of Norristown and Jerry Butler, 28, of Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania. The three assaulters were all dressed in black and used a gray Toyota RAV-4.
Carter was robbed before he was fatally shot allegedly by Brantley. After the murder, Allen allegedly paid Emel $700 on North Broad Street in Philadelphia.
On December 21, 2023, the Toyota RAV-4 was reported stolen from Cheltenham, Montgomery County. At around 3:00 a.m. on January 21, 2024, it was found in flames at the intersection of Willow and Roberts streets in Norristown.
On February 7, 2024, Emel turned herself in. She was charged with second-degree murder, robbery and conspiracy in Carter’s death.
Allen, Butler and Brantley were arrested and extradited from Endicott, Broome County, New York, USA to Montgomery County. Emel and the three men are being held at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility in Eagleville, Montgomery County without bail.
