Joshua Castro, 18, attends Irene L. Chavez Excel Academy, which is on the Oliver Wendell Holmes High School campus in San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas, United States. The high school is part of the Northside Independent School District.
Castro and Sebastian Toledo, 18, allegedly et up a meeting with Raymond Ancira Sr., 34, and Ancira’s son Raymond Alexander Ancira Jr., 15, for a deal to buy a firearm. Social media postings showed Toledo and Castro planned to rob Raymond Sr. and Raymond Jr. during the deal, according to the San Antonio Police Department.
On December 6, 2024, Castro allegedly fatally shot Raymond Sr. and Raymond Jr. in the parking lot of the Circle K gas station on Potranco Road in San Antonio. On February 5, 2024, U.S. Marshals watched Toledo on Cat Mountain in San Antonio and spotted him picking up a package outside the front door of his residence.
The officers knocked on the door and made entry into the house. When they heard a gunshot, they retreated and sent a drone into the house.
Toledo was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. On February 7, 2024, San Antonio Police Department officers arrested Castro at Chavez Excel Academy with the help of the Northside Independent School District and the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force.
The Chavez Excel Academy student was booked into the Bexar County Jail in San Antonio. He is facing two charges of capital murder in Raymond Sr. and Raymond Jr.’s deaths.
