Eric Dione Birth, 29, is a physical education teacher and an assistant track coach at Winona Senior High School in Winona, Winona County, Minnesota, United States. He is accused of having sex with three female students.
In 2016, Birth allegedly had a sexual intercourse with a girl, then 16, attending the school. They allegedly started a relationship after she confided in him about personal issues.
In April 2017, Birth allegedly had a sexual relationship with another female student, then 17. She was not aware that he took a video of her performing oral sex on him.
On April 22, 2022, authorities stopped a girl, then 17, and issued her a citation for use of wireless device while driving. According to her, on the evening of April 24, 2022, she met with Birth in Winona because she was having a hard time.
According to the girl, while she and Birth were chatting in her car, he kissed her and pulled her from the car and forced her to perform oral sex on him. He allegedly wanted to have sex with her inside the car but she refused.
On June 1, 2023, an anonymous tipster told investigators via Winona County Community Services about the relationship between Birth and the third girl. When asked by investigators, she denied the claims and said he was merely her track coach so the case was closed.
But on January 2, 2024, the girl called investigators and told them she had lied. On January 3, 2024, the Winona Area Public Schools put Birth on leave.
On February 15, 2024, Birth was arrested. On February 16,2024, he was charged with four counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct.
